Coordinator
Claudio Morelli is a journalist, visual author, and editorial consultant whose research and professional practice lie at the intersection of journalism, visual culture, and the social sciences. For over fifteen years, he has collaborated with some of the most prominent Italian and international media outlets, investigating the social, economic, and cultural dynamics that shape contemporary societies. His research explores media narratives that construct meaning from the ordinary, the paradoxical, and the unexpected. His reportage has addressed a wide range of social and current issues - from environmental conflicts in the Amazon to the meat industry in South America - along with social transformations, economic crises, and socio-political changes in peripheral and marginalized areas. His visual practice includes editorial photography and documentary filmmaking. From 2014 to 2016, he collaborated as author and director of photography on G124, a project led by architect and Senator for Life Renzo Piano, focused on the regeneration of Italian suburbs. As a consultant and editorial director, he has led the strategic and creative development of new digital media ventures, including the launch of VDnews and the editorial repositioning of Chef in Camicia. He is the founder of Reversocollettivo, an independent company that designs and produces editorial content for media, institutions, and brands, through a transdisciplinary approach combining research, filmmaking, and visual communication. Alongside his professional work, he has conducted workshops on editorial direction and media leadership for local and community-based outlets, as part of a broader reflection on the role of information in shaping public discourse at the territorial level. He holds a degree in Political Science, with a thesis in social research methodology that examined the phenomenon of upper-class self-segregation in the city of Naples, through a multidisciplinary approach combining photography, mapping, and field research. He teaches photography and visual documentation at the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), where he also serves as a thesis advisor in the Department of Visual Arts.
